Fitness and keeping moving is IMPORTANT. For me it is a daily struggle and whenever I find folks that motivate me to keep moving and help me keep up with my daily step goals, I am happy. Shay is realistic, funny, AND motivational, she has some of the best dang recipe suggestions.

Here is my chat with Shay the “Fitness Strategist”:

Have you always been someone who is into health and fitness, if not when did you start to be interested in health and fitness:

I have always been into fitness. As a Soldier in the Armed Forces, it’s important to be in tip top shape. 

What is the biggest obstacle that you find most women face regarding staying fit/healthy:

The biggest obstacles I see is that most people don’t have the time to exercise or meal prep. 

How much time does meal prep take you:

 I usually do it on Sunday and it takes about 3 hours.

Where do you get recipe inspiration (your instagram page has some awesome food suggestions)

I get my inspiration from Pinterest.

How many times a week do you work out and for how long:

I workout 4-5 days a week for 35 minutes to an hour.

What advice would you give someone who is new to working out/eating healthy:

I would tell them to take one it one day at a time. Walk for 30 minutes and add body weight workouts.

What is your daily work out routine:

I love to run and do body weight workouts 

What tips do you have for parents in regards to helping kids start off healthy. Kids often emulate their parents:

If they see you eating healthy, they will do the same. 

What is your favorite quote:

Done is better than perfect. 

What is on your workout play list:

I listen to Spotify. It’s a variety of R&B and Gospel.

What are your fitness goals or tips?

  2. I really love this post. You don’t have to go crazy and get into all the fads to really get yourself into shape. I think the biggest takeaway here is that fitness doesn’t have to be complicated, it just has to be consistent.

  5. I agree with you that the biggest obstacles are exercise and mean prep as we are all so busy that it is easy to feel you just do not have the time to get what you need done….actually done. By the end of the day, even if I woke up with high expectations of an amazing meal…sometimes at the endow the day I pop in something totally easy and most likely not so good for us into eh oven to save time. Thank you for sharing and I am going to work on that by maybe making make ahead healthy freezer meals and use my crockpot more too 🙂

  8. Yeah, I agree that meal prep is the most difficult thing to stay healthy throughout the week. I suppose if I had three hours on Sunday to prep and meal plan that would help a bit.

  11. This is true, authentic and inspiring. I find meal prep the hardest thing too. Literally I exercise often and I take great pride and strength from that because it makes me healthy. BUT, I cannot seem to plan for meal prep properly.
