A Look Back At My Words For 2019

A few years back I started choosing a word or words for the New Year. The words I choose are words that will help me to stay focused on certain goals for the new year. I have been choosing words with a group of friends for the last few years. We not only share the words we choose we also share why we picked those words. At the end of the year it is nice to reflect back and see how those words impacted us throughout the year.

The words I chose for 2019 were: Joy, Embrace and Peace.

Embrace- In 2018 I moved from Northern California to South Carolina and that is a big change and as to be expected it can be hard to embrace a new area. I am thankful that I put my guard down and was able to truly embrace the Carolina’s this year. Thanks to my new group of friends doing this was much easier than I anticipated.

Peace- This one here has crept up in my word choices a few times. Peace of mind to me is essential for my mental health. I’ve worked on having peace for a few years and continue to do so. It is important to recognize what and who may interrupt your peace and create healthy boundaries.

Joy- I CHOOSE joy. One thing I know for sure is that life can be crazy one moment and full of happiness the next. Regardless of what challenges or difficulties that I may face, I have learned that I can still focus on what brings me joy while working things out.

I am still working on my words for 2020. How about you, do you pick a word for the New Year? I would love to hear the words you choose for 2019 and if you have 2020 words picked out please share.
